Mr Mark Kelleher Phone: (07)4745 2200 Facsimile: (07) 4745 1340 Email: council@carpentaria.qld.gov.au I was appointed as CEO and moved to Normanton in January 2009, in the middle of what was to become the  region's second biggest flood in recorded history.  Despite that testing start to my tenure, I have found work at Carpentaria Shire Council to be both challenging and rewarding, and continue to enjoy the opportunities that arise working in a rural and remote local government.  I have spent 29 years working in local government, firstly in the State Department of Local Government, then in various Shires throughout Far North Queensland.  Prior to moving to Normanton, I was based in Innisfail with the Cassowary Coast Regional Council.  I am a long time believer in the natural beauty and greater lifestyle choices that come with living in the northern part of our state and both my wife, Trish, and I have settled well into the “Gulf Lifestyle."
