Mayor of Carpentaria Shire Council, Cr Fred Pascoe welcomed the news that Council’s application for funds in Round 3 of the Remote Aerodrome Safety Program (RASP) was successful in raising $733,333 from the Federal Government to go towards sealing the runway at Karumba Airport.
The project involves strengthening and sealing of the existing 1,271 metre gravel runway, strengthening and sealing of the taxiway and set down area and installation of airstrip lighting.
Construstion on the Karumba Airport will commence on Wednesday the 16th September and is due to be completed in late October/early November. If you have any enquires please contact the Council's Engineering Department on 07 4745 2200
