Right to Information

The Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) aims to make more information available, provide equal access to information across all sectors of the community and provide appropriate protection for individuals privacy.

Complaints

Council is committed to providing an open and accountable local government. We value all feedback given to Council as it helps us continually improve our service to customers. The complaints management process ensures the transparent, effective and timely resolution of all complaints.

Councillor Conduct Register

Council have adopted a revised version of the Councillor Code of Conduct. Within this document the standards of behaviour expected for Councillors of Carpentaria Shire are set out. The code also demonstrates Council's commitment to performing all responsibilities under the Act in accordance with the local government principles.

Public Interest Disclosure

Council encourages and supports public interest disclosures (including verbal and anonymous disclosures) of wrongdoing in Council and will take appropriate action to investigate each disclosure. Any person with suspicions, concerns or information about matters concerning reportable conduct is encouraged to report the matter to Council.

Privacy

The Queensland Government introduced the Information Privacy Act 2009 (the "Act") which applies to local governments. The Act contains a number of privacy principles which set out how agencies must handle personal information (including the collection, security, use and disclosure of such information). Personal information is any information from which your identity can be reasonably ascertained.

Carpentaria Shire Council strives for open, transparent and accountable governance for the community. In accordance with the Local Government Act 2009 and the Local Government Regulation 2012 the following policies are available for public viewing.

Publication Scheme

Our publication scheme describes and categorises information routinely available to the public. It has been developed to give the community greater access to information held by Council.
