Held in the picturesque Gulf of Carpentaria in Karumba, QLD, come and join us to unveil the next batch of Australia's best short films.
Friday 12th September 2025 from 6pm at the Karumba Recreation Club with a licenced bar and food vendors.
Bring a picnic rug, bean bag or camping chair.

Festival Artists
The Outback by the Sea Festival proudly presents a diverse lineup of artists who bring their unique talents and creative energy to our celebration. From music to visual arts, these artists reflect the vibrant spirit of our community and the rich cultural heritage of the outback.

Steve Bastoni
Steve Bastoni is a renowned Australian actor with a career spanning over three decades in film, television and theatre. Known for his powerful performances in iconic Australian films and TV shows, Steve has also made his mark as a director and producer. His contributions to the arts are highly regarded, and he remains a prominent figure in the Australian entertainment industry.

Carla Bonner
Actor, speaker, coach, advocate, and change-maker-Carla Bonner is one of Australia’s most beloved TV stars.
Carla joined Australia’s longest running TV drama Neighbours in 1999 when she was cast as Stephanie Scully, becoming one of the show’s most popular characters. She has worked on numerous independent short film and theatre projects and facilitates acting workshops for young performers. Her other TV credits include RAW FM, Wentworth, ABC3 series Ready for This & Superwog.

Terry Serio
Running on Empty, Chance, Police Rescue
Terry Serio is a familiar face on our screens having starred as the lead, Mike, in the 1982 Australian culture action film Running on Empty. He has also had guest roles in television series including Rafferty’s Rules, The Flying Doctors, A Country Practice, Chance, Phoenix and Police Rescue. Terry is an accomplished musician and singer/songwriter and will be performing at the Ocean & Outback Film Festival on Friday September 12 in Karumba.

6pm onwards (live music, food, films and celebrities!)
*Please Note that films have not yet been classified. Some films may contain coarse language, nudity or sexual references that may offend some people and some films are recommended for ages 15 and over.
