Youth Strategy Community Consultations

Peak Services has been contracted by Council to assist with developing a 5 year Youth Strategy. The Youth Strategy will enable Council to strategically meet the current and future needs of its young people and their families.  It will also provide overall direction for Council to guide programs, initiatives, advocacy and support work for youth and their families.

Council in partnership with Peak Services would like to invite service providers to attend a consultation season on Wednesday 15 June, 3.30pm at the Normanton Shire Hall and this will be followed with a further consultation session for members of the public to attend at 6:00pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Mayor Jack Bawden said "Council has not had reference for youth in its corporate documents until quite recently when the Corporate Plan was reviewed and this was a great opportunity to develop a strategy for our young people in the Shire."

The development of this strategy has been made possible with the financial support provided to Council through the North West Minerals Province - Building Sustainable Communities Grant.

"Community input into the development of this strategy is one of the most important aspects of its development and we encourage as many service providers and community members to become involved", he said.
